Östers IF delivered a solid performance to earn a point against league leaders IF Elfsborg in the P19 Superettan Södra series final. The match at Borås Arena ended goalless, 0-0, keeping Östers IF within two points of the top.
The team's best period came at the start of the second half, where they created more chances and also hit the woodwork. Elfsborg had several clear opportunities too, including a double chance around the 20-minute mark where an initial save was followed by a rebound off the post.
After a goal-line save from a corner in the first half, Östers IF managed to stabilise their play after the break. They increased the pressure and got more balls into dangerous areas. In the latter stages, however, Elfsborg regained the initiative with counter-attacks and free-kicks that went just wide.
The draw means Östers IF remain in direct contention for the series title. The team has an inconsistent recent form of two wins, one draw and two losses in their last five games, but are coming off a 3-1 win against IFK Varnamo last weekend.
