Östers IF beat IFK Värnamo 3-1 away at Finnvedsvallen in the Smålandsderby. It was an important victory for the team in their pursuit of a better league position.
The team's recent form is mixed with two wins, one draw, and two losses in their last five matches. Their most recent win came against Värnamo just a week ago, a 3-1 away victory. But this time it turned around. Östers IF actually took the lead through Filip Olsson in the 25th minute, assisted by Matias Tamminen. The home side equalised through Viktor Claesson in the 67th, and Hannes Bladh Pijaca put Östers IF back ahead five minutes later. Noah Söderberg ultimately secured Östers IF's 3-1 win in the 76th minute.
IFK Värnamo manager Kim Bergstrand had questioned before the match whether his team could continue on their current path. "Kan Kim Bergstrands svårslagna lag fortsätta på inslagen väg eller stöter man på patrull när Växjö-laget kommer på besök?" he said. The answer was a yes from his players. Östers IF's next chance to break the streak comes this Thursday, September 19th, when IFK Norrköping visit Visma Arena. To follow the team's progress in the table, check our standings page.
