In Arenastaden's C-plan area, the air was filled with football players during Östers IF's summer camp. Children dressed in orange, blue and pink vests met up for intense matches. When a goal was scored, cheers erupted, often accompanied by Gyökeres mask or Ronaldos famous "SIUUU". Occasionally, voices rose against the referee, but the boy they were shouting at wasn't actually the referee. It was Wilgot Runbert, 17 years old and an academy player for Östers IF, who led the groups during the camp.
"As summer camp leader, I have a big responsibility to oversee the youngest players and ensure they get the chance to develop on the field. It's important that we create a positive environment where children can learn rules, teamwork, and respect for the referee," says Wilgot Runbert.
The camp was held in Arenastaden over four days, during which participants had the opportunity to develop within football, meet new friends, and have fun playing. "It's so cool to get to meet other kids who also love football. We've played a lot and it was unusual fun," says one child.
Östers IF's summer camp is a great opportunity for children to develop in football while having fun and making new friends.
